As of Monday, many of the details remain uncertain, including the actual figure of the hack. Blockchain analysis firm Elliptic put the outflow at $663 million, although it said that $477 million is suspected to have been stolen.

Most of the money is currently sitting in a handful of wallets, with everyone from blockchain analysis firms to Kraken to FTX itself searching for the origin of the hack. With all eyes on the addresses and the notorious mixing service Tornado Cash incapacitated by U.S. government sanctions, it seems like only a matter of time before the culprit is found.

Attention students! This weekend, April 9th-11th, the Political Science department is hosting a virtual Hack Fest on Mental Health in memory of Assistant Professor Dr. Brice Acree. The National Association of Secretaries of State issued a statement in response to DEFCON hacking voting systems, expressing concern about the event encouraging the mock hacking of official election systems and saying it does not accurately reflect the reality of electronic voting in the U.S.

The temperature may have just been cranked up on one of the largest hack jobs in video game history. Rockstar Games and the rest of the internet are still reeling from the recent leak of video footage and supposed code related to the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. It came just after a major hack at Uber as well, and now it would seem authorities believe the hacks are related. Uber has released a press release stating that the FBI is involved and investigating the possibility that the same entity hacked both Uber and Rockstar Games.

Uber shared the details of supposed FBI involvement in the matter, as well as suggestion that the same hacker hit Rockstar Games, in a recent security update press release. According to the release, Uber has signaled that the responsible party that hacked its servers just last week was also involved in large-scale hacks of multiple companies throughout the year, which includes the Rockstar Games hack of Grand Theft Auto 6 development footage this last weekend.

With the FBI and other cybersecurity firms involved, it seems Uber and other companies are out for blood. This is likely in addition to Take-Two Interactive carrying out its own investigation. It will remain to be seen if the hackers can continue to stay hidden or if this is the last we see of these large-scale incidents. Stay tuned as we continue to follow for updates.

Many tech organizations were represented by their best and brightest developers on the lookout for talented students. The Belmont students in attendance included Ben Miner, Nick Chouard, Callie Deas, Tito Ebiwonjumi, Hannah Wright, John Ottenlips, Braden Carei, Daniel Gray, Sebastian Alegre and Aaron Itzkovitch. This weekend was an excellent opportunity for them to learn new things, practice their coding and programming skills and interact with students, faculty and industry professionals from across Middle Tennessee.

Part "hack" (meaning creation across cross-sector entities), part marathon, Hack Health is a new kind of hackathon that aims to create solutions to medical problems and barriers. The weekend was an opportunity to work with fellow designers, engineers, developers, physicians, artists, entrepreneurs, mentors, and others to help develop tools that could change the worlds of medicine and health.

This weekend a hundred hackers attended the Malmö Music Hack Weekend hosted by Minc Malmö. It was a great weekend. The inputs to the event were lots of great hackers, great food, flawless wifi, live DJs, bottomless popcorn and lots of very comfortable hacking spots. The outputs were a set of creative music hacks that give us a glimpse of what the future of music will be like.

"There are also reports over the weekend that this same actor breached video game maker Rockstar Games," Uber wrote in a newly-updated blog. "We are in close coordination with the FBI and US Department of Justice on this matter and will continue to support their efforts."

Uber said it believed the person responsible to be "affiliated with a hacking group called Lapsus$, which has been increasingly active over the last year or so" and which has similarly breached a list of other technology companies this year such as Microsoft, Samsung and Nvidia.

"I had never heard about any of this until recently," the 16-year-old's father said at the time. "He's never talked about any hacking, but he is very good on computers and spends a lot of time on the computer. I always thought he was playing games.

After the last shift in a block of night shifts, remember that the more days in a row a person has been working through the night, the more sleep debt they will likely have accrued. Repaying some of the sleep debt as quickly as possible will help individuals recover sooner.
